Meet the team – Daniel Hart
People are our best asset and the heart of our business. As part of the ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re introducing the people behind the scenes, from the finance team who run the business side of things to our Digital Transformation Consultants, who guide our clients through the RAISE™ process, to the technically skilled Systems Engineers who develop innovative, business-focused digital solutions.
Introducing Daniel Hart, Deputy MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) Manager at ITI Group.
Daniel joined ITI Group (then Cimlogic) in 2018 as a Software Development Work Placement alongside studying for a Computing degree at Leeds Beckett University. Since then, Daniel has gained extensive experience in the industry working as a Graduate Software Developer, Senior Software Developer, and now in his current role as Deputy MES Manager. Daniel tells us all about his career journey at ITI Group so far…
Tell us about your journey at ITI Group
I am currently employed as the Deputy MES Manager at ITI Group, based at the Saltaire office. My journey began in 2018 where I started a 14-month software development work placement at Cimlogic (now ITI Group). During this time, I was a student of Computing at Leeds Beckett University…a lot has changed since then!
During my placement I gained valuable experience in software development within the industry that University alone could not teach me. As well as an insight into how the largest manufacturers in the world produce the products that end up in our homes. I was invited to join the sponsorship programme that offered support for my final year and a guaranteed role as a software developer upon graduation – it was a no brainer for a 21-year-old student.
Since then, things have moved on at a fast pace for both me professionally, and the business. Becoming part of a larger group has expanded the services we offer, and the diversity of the team massively. Through my time here I have travelled to Europe, America and across the UK seeing places I most likely would never have seen. I now help manage the MES Department, having successfully completed the internal management and leadership training programme this year.
What skills are fundamental to your role?
I would say that problem solving and communication skills are what I value most in my role. We deal with a fast paced and ever-changing environment, and we are often required to think on our feet and find the best way of dealing with issues or changes as they arise to keep projects moving with minimal rework and disruption. It is also crucial that we keep all relevant stakeholders (internal and external) in the know, which can be harder than it sounds!
How important is personal development at ITI Group?
Personal Development has very much been at the forefront of my career at ITI Group. Starting as a placement student and working my way through to Graduate Developer, Senior Developer, and my current role of Deputy MES Manager. I am keen to give back in this regard and dedicate a lot of my working time to mentoring new additions to the team who join at various skill levels.
What do you enjoy most about your role at ITI Group?
Flexitime, travel abroad and MES team social outings.
