What do critical systems operators require from a service provider?
Much technical support is sold to fix what’s already broken: you report a fault, a ticket is raised, an engineer works through the queue, and the problem is fixed. Fast resolution matters, and we run a service around the clock for exactly that reason. However, for the systems that run a plant, quick resolution is the minimum requirement, not the gold standard.

What should you look for in a service partner?
When the same engineers stay with your account year on year, they learn your systems, your sites and your quirks – and accountability has a name, not a queue number. The commodity model can’t offer this, because its economics depend on interchangeable resource.
The best service works to stop the phone ringing: monitoring live platforms to catch degradation before anyone notices it, and measuring and projecting demand so that need is anticipated rather than discovered. Increasingly, that means systems raising tickets automatically, before a person would. Many providers gesture at this; few do it well, and some not at all.
The same thinking extends to newer tools, where the gain can be dramatic. One client’s site had been losing production for some time to poorly integrated code left by a previous supplier – a problem that would have taken our engineers hundreds of hours to rewrite by hand. Because the SEAL team we run for this client knew their systems intimately, they could do something quicker: build an AI agent to refactor the code, and resolve it fully in days rather than weeks. Does going offshore really save money?
Plenty of clients are told they can cut service costs by moving offshore. Sometimes that’s true, but often it isn’t. That’s not because offshore engineers can’t do the work, but because the saving is built on the lowest day rate rather than the right outcome.
The question is less about onshore or offshore, and more about whether the people on your account know your systems, and whether someone is accountable when it matters.
